January ended with the concept in place. The “TREE” was created allowing us to fully understand the volume and frame work.
It was now a matter of hours, hours and hours of meeting and drilling through the required elements to build the base.
Yossi and I found ourselves quickly in a dilemma requiring us to focus on the main menu and basic features. We realized we were diversifying due to preliminary excitement. (Major mistake!!!)
“Stay focused and keep it simple.” “Nice to have” not always works. On the contrary it may even complicate and put you off track.
We filled blackboards with info and covered our office with menus and Categories linked to Sub Categories linked to Sub-Sub etc…. Then we sat down for a coffee, took a look and understood – This wasn’t going to work. By the time we finish we will need a team of 20-30 programmers and create a monster.
We needed to rethink. We gathered thoughts and consulted between all four and reached the basic framework.
As Lior mentioned in one of many discussions, Simplicity and solid Base will allow us to move forwards without too many “Bugs” and the need to stop or back-track. How right this was and proves to have saved us months of work for a fraction of the time needed to invest in this stage.
